Arborele embaúba este un reprezentant tipic al acestei situații; are frunze mari, cu un diametru de până la 80 cm, iar culoarea albă cenușie dă o notă surprinzătoare, chiar și la distanță mare.

Tulpinile goale au fost folosite de indieni sub formă de instalații sanitare pentru a conduce apă și, uneori, ca un instrument de comunicare la distanță, așa că Haiti este numit Trumpet Tree.
